Planning Your Mexico Vacation

What do you want your Mexico vacation to be? Do you want to have the get into the culture, hands on, no frills, live like the locals experience or do you want to go for the all inclusive, spa package, waiters by the pool, swim up bar experience? Whichever choice you make you are sure to enjoy yourself but it will most definitely be two very different vacations!

When it comes to choosing your hotel you will want to consider the above question as your lodgings will really set the mood for your whole trip and there are definitely more economical choices depending what your plans are. If you are thinking on being out all day touring and hitting up markets for local treats and meals and really are planning to use your hotel as a place to get some shut eye then your choice will be quite different than if you are looking to have breakfast in bed, lunch by the pool and a black tie dinner with maybe a massage and a facial in between.

If you aren’t planning on being around your hotel much then an all inclusive resort is not the best choice for you. You will want to look for a simple hotel that does not include meals or entertainment as part of the package deal. When you are searching for your hotel whether at home or in a foreign country it is very important to do your homework and be sure you are heading to what you are expecting. A great way to be sure you are choosing a hotel that is up to your standards is to read reviews.

Sure reviews can be fudged but it’s usually pretty obvious what a real review is and what is not. If there are ten people complaining and two raving that just doesn’t seem right. Be thorough in your research and look for hotels that are noted as being in a “safe neighborhood” and “clean” to be sure that you don’t end up somewhere you don’t want to be.

It’s very easy to get confused when searching for accommodations in a place you have not been to before or where you don’t know the areas so again reading reviews will help you with this. Of course if you’d rather not do all the looking around you could use the assistance of a travel agent to help you be sure to get the hotel reservation that is going to work for you.

Obviously in an all inclusive resort the above is true as well, just because there’s a masseuse on call and a gourmet dinner listed as amenities doesn’t mean it’s all it says it is. So, yes, read reviews and/or talk to a travel agent. There are so many amazing all inclusive resorts in Mexico and many of them offer deals for groups or off season getaways so look around and be sure to get all the deals that are out there to be had then get packed for your relaxation vacation! Really all you’ll need is your swimsuit right?

Eating Out In Birmingham – You Are Spoilt For Choice

Eating out in Birmingham is an amazing experience as there are so many different places to choose from. Whether you are after a light snack at lunchtime or would prefer a Michelin star 4 course meal to celebrate a special event in your life there are plenty of restaurants in this very cosmopolitan city that will be able to cater to your needs and to your budget.

Certainly when it comes to Birmingham one of the best parts to head to in order to find some truly wonderful restaurants is Brindley Place. You will be amazed at what is available from traditional British cooking to more exotic Japanese, Cantonese and Spanish fare on offer. Of course no visit to Birmingham would be complete without taking in one of its many excellent Indian restaurants as well. Below we take a look at just a few restaurants in this city that we feel are worth a visit.

1. Bank Birmingham – Situated at 4 Brindley Place this is a ultra-modern bar and brasserie. On offer at this restaurant you will find British classics such as calves’ liver with sage, onion and crispy bacon or rib eye steak with chips and barnaise sauce. However we would highly recommend you try their chilli squid Thai noodle salad or their crispy duck breast with Chinese greens in a honey and sesame dressing. A 2 course meal here will set you back around 35.

2. Lasan – This restaurant has given Indian food a much more modern feel. On offer at this restaurant located near to St Paul’s Church in the city is fillet of lemon sole that has been marinated in mint and yoghurt and breast of duck served with tomato and onion curry flavoured with melon and poppy seeds and roasted coconut. Once you have tried this restaurants food and for which a two course meal starts from 22.00 you can see why it won a British Curry Award in 2007.

3. Simpsons – This is without doubt one of the most prestigious restaurants for eating out in Birmingham. However although situated on Highfield Road, Edgbaston it is easy to reach from the centre of the city. What many people love about this particular restaurant along with its wonderful food is the opportunity for them to sit and watch the kitchen staff at work as the conservatory style dining room has large windows that allow you to see through to the kitchen. A two course meal here starts from around 45.00 but this is to be expected as it has a Michelin star.

4. Thai Edge – Again when it comes to eating out in Birmingham you will find this restaurant in the area of the city called Brindley Place. It offers a wide selection of authentic Thai dishes for you to try including the likes of a salad of glass noodles with minced prawn and pork or the punchy Tom Yum Soup. The course of a two course meal at this wonderful restaurant starts at around 30.00.
